City of Mansfield Mayor's Statement: Walmart Closing

"We will certainly miss having the Walmart Store in Mansfield and the economic benefit from having the store located here. Our sales tax total will be less without the store.
The reason given for closing the store and other small stores was that the profits at the small stores were not as good as expected.
A total of 33 jobs will be lost here and some employees may transfer to other stores.
Employees have been given a two week notice. They will have two more weeks cleaning up the store. Workers will receive some severance pay after the cleanup days.
Pharmacy prescriptions will be transferred to the Greenwood Walmart store.
The building will be for sale."

Larry Austin, Mayor
City of Mansfield
